About James Gorton

I am happily married to Nadine, a person I've known for 20+ years. She and her late husband owned Airpark Auto Service where I took my car for years. Four years after my wife died we began dating and the rest is history. We have a blended family of 6 children between us and love visiting them across this country. We recently had our third grandchild between us. We love to hike, bike and ski. I am a psychologist and do relational life coaching for marriages and families primarily. I love what I do and never get tired of seeing marriages and families move to more healthy places in their lives. Five years ago my oldest daughter Deborah encouraged me to begin writing my thought into a blog I call my Jlog (Jim's log). I have become more and more passionate in connecting everyday experiences to spiritual truths. I hope that as you read my Jlog, you will gain insight into your personal life and experience true growth in your personal and relational life.

Waiting for Her Return

I have a problem.  It’s an irritation that was built in the early years of life.  My mom never threw any food out.  Never.  Left-overs.  Left-overs.  Left-overs.  She would cook a meal and we would eat the meal with left-overs … Continue reading

Present Day Distractor?

I guess I have to define what I mean by distractor.  A distractor is a person or thing that consumes our attention and diverts our focus away what is most important to us.  I have recently become distracted by the … Continue reading

Playing Traffic Cop

Have you ever seen one of those traffic cops in a large city directing traffic?  They make an art of stopping one lane while encouraging another lane to move forward or turn left.  It is mesmerizing to see the beauty … Continue reading

Nadine and I flew into Colorado to celebrate our third grandson Greyson’s 2nd birthday.  They live in Denver so we have been staying with them.  My 97-year-old mother lives in Colorado Springs, just 50 miles to the south, so it … Continue reading

A week ago Friday, Nadine and I flew to Chicago to be with our oldest daughter Debi and her roommate Patty.  We were detained by an incoming plane and finally reached our destination at 1:30 on Saturday morning.  After catching … Continue reading
